Paula's Patches

Updated: Nov 10, 2023

I wish I read this book as a child...and had a friend like Paula! When I was a kid, I had a bug patch covering a hole on the sleeve of my favorite shirt. Kids would flick the patch and tease me. If only the kids in my class had read a book that promotes empathy and kindness like PAULA'S PATCHES which is publishing tomorrow (July 11, 2023) from Free Spirit Publishing written by debut author Gabriella Aldeman, and illustrated by Rocío Arreola.

"Oh, no! While at school, Paula’s pants catch on a bush that rips a large hole in her pants. She tries everything to hide the hole from her classmates, only to find out that they, too, have leaky lunchboxes, spaghetti stains, and hand-me-down backpacks. Nothing some colorful patches can’t fix! Children will follow Paula as she feels embarrassed about her torn pants, curious about patches, and excited for a possible solution that helps both her and her classmates."

What I also adore is the back of the book contains activities for children, including how to make their own patches, no-sew bookmarks, and fabric pouches! How fun!

Gabriella has generously offered to giveaway a copy of PAULA'S PATCHES! Please go to my Twitter to enter the giveaway and Instagram for an extra chance at winning this sweet book!

Use fabric for mending, decorating, and making things your very own—just like Paula!
